Let's talk about Sakicha Village
This coffee comes from smallholder farmers in Ethiopia’s Gedeo and Oromo communities, where the local languages are Gedeofa and Oromifa. These farms are tiny—usually between 0.5 to 2 hectares—and are often tended by families who’ve been growing coffee for generations. Each family typically produces just one to three 60kg bags per season. Harvesting is a hands-on, family affair, with farmers and relatives picking only the ripest cherries. Washing stations reward this extra care with premium prices and handle the processing from there.
